The Consent screen controls how visitor consent is handled and whether the built-in cookie banner shows. Global Privacy Control (GPC) opt-outs are always respected at the edge, whatever you choose here.
Sale consent modes
This setting governs whether anonymized data may enter aggregated data products:
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Grant — consented | Treat visitors as consented; no banner. The default. GPC still respected. |
| Auto — honor consent | Include an event only when the visitor consents (built-in banner or your own CMP). GPC always respected. |
| Off | Events are never included in data products — your own analytics only. |
Your own analytics keep working regardless; the mode only affects what can flow into aggregated data products.
The cookie banner
Turn on AskThis’s built-in banner to show a consent prompt. It applies in Auto mode — EU/UK visitors get an opt-in banner, California a Do-Not-Sell control. With geo-targeted banners on, it shows only where the law requires; off, it shows to everyone. The banner is off until you enable it.
Prefer your own CMP? Signal consent to the widget with window.__atConsent = true and leave
the built-in banner off.
The consent log
Every consent decision is recorded to an immutable, org-scoped consent log you can review on the screen — and withdrawals suppress any prior saleable data.
