Win AI citations & share-of-voice

A strategy for earning citations from answer engines and tracking how you compare to competitors.

Being cited by an answer engine is the AI-era equivalent of ranking #1 — you’re the source in the answer. Here’s how to earn more citations and see where you stand.

Make each page citable

  • A precise ai:summary. Engines quote the summary when it matches the page. Keep it concrete and specific — see AI Graph tags.
  • One clear claim per page. Pages that answer a specific question cleanly get cited more than sprawling ones.
  • Set ai:cite_as. Give engines the exact name to attribute — your brand, spelled the way you want it to appear.

Track citations & share-of-voice

Citation Monitor checks whether engines cite you — or a competitor — for the queries you choose, and shows your share of voice against a watchlist. Configure your tracked queries and competitor domains on the Citations screen.

Turn losses into wins

Where a competitor is cited and you aren’t, look at their answer: is your page’s summary less specific? Is the claim buried? Tightening the ai:summary and the on-page answer is usually what flips it.
